The future with going to is widely used in English along with the simple future. In this article we will explain how and when this tense is used.
The structure is very simple. The verb to be conjugated is used first in the present, followed by the expression going to and finally the verb in simple infinitive: Subject + verb to be + going to + verb in simple infinitive + complement I am going to see a movie tonight. (I'm going to watch a movie tonight) She is going to go to the doctor tomorrow. (She will go to the doctor tomorrow) They are going to listen to the song. (They are going to hear the song)

 1. In general the future with going to we use it to talk about future plans and intentions: He is going to start working next week. (He is going to start work next week) She is going to do the shopping on Saturday. (She goes shopping on Saturday)
He is going to swim with his friends in the beach. (He goes swimming with his friends on the beach)


2. It can also be used to make predictions based on tests: According to the weather forecast, it is going to rain tonight. (According to the weather forecast, it's going to rain tonight) You are going to catch a cold if you continue playing outdoors! (You're going to catch a flu if you keep playing outside!) My mom looks angry, she‘s going to scold me again… (My mother looks angry, she will scold me again)
To create the negation of the future with going to, the not particle must be inserted between the verb to be in the present and the going to: Subject + verb to be in present + not + going to + verb in simple infinitive I am not going to explain you the lesson. (I will not explain the lesson) They are not going to force you to do that. (They won't force you to do that)
 Patricia is not going to go hiking this weekend. (Patricia is not going hiking this weekend)



The interrogation in the future with going to To create the interrogative phrase, we must alter the order of the elements. The verb to be must be used at the beginning, followed by the subject, the going to and finally the main verb in simple infinitive. The structure would be as follows: Verb to be + subject + going to + main verb in simple infinitive + complement +? Are you going to stay longer? (Are you staying longer?) Is he going to have his hair cut today? (Are you going to cut your hair today?) Are they going to protest in the square? (Are they going to protest in the square?)
